DIY Dry Shampoo Recipe

Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup cornstarch
  • ¼ cup baking soda
  • optional: 2 tablespoons cocoa powder (for dark hair) or ground cinnamon (for light hair)
  • optional 5-10 drops of your favorite essential oil for fragrance and extra scalp benefits:
    • Rosemary helps with hair growth
    • Peppermint helps with blood circulation
    • Cedarwood oil stimulates the scalp and promotes hair growth.
    • Lavender conditions the hair, keeps it shiny, and helps control dandruff

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, combine the cornstarch and baking soda. Optional: add cocoa powder or cinnamon, which adds color to match your hair shade and helps absorb excess oil.

  2. If you prefer a dry shampoo with fragrance, add a few drops of your favorite essential oil. Lavender, rosemary, or peppermint are popular choices.

  3. Use a whisk or fork to blend all the ingredients until evenly mixed. To ensure there are no clumps you can sift the ingredients through.

  4. Transfer the mixture to an airtight container, preferably one with a shaker top for easy application. Or use a large makeup brush to apply to your hair.
