Description

Are you switching to soap bars but miss that smooth feeling of shower gels? Shower blocks are a new solid shower gel without that squeaky feeling of regular soap bars.

This Mint & Grapfeuit solid bar of shower gel is a great addition to the plastic-free bathroom. It has a super fresh and zesty combination for an invigorating start to the day.

The block is made from a blend of six nourishing plant-based oils and is cleverly formulated as a shower gel in solid form. It lathers up quickly with water and feels just like a shower gel on the skin, creating a flurry of bubbles and a creamy lather for a fast, fuss-free shower. Skin is left feeling fresh and nourished without that drying, squeaky feeling that can often be experienced when using some traditional soap bars. Simply lather up in the hands or a sponge, apply to wet skin, wash, rinse and allow the block to dry. It should last around a month with daily use.

For every block sold, Shower Blocks donates a mini block to someone in need through their partnership with Toiletries Amnesty. This includes homeless shelters and hostels, foodbanks, refugees, mental health services, NHS Trusts, and hospices who distribute them to the people they help.

ABOUT THE BRAND

In 2019 founder Neil started to feel frustrated about the amount of shower gel bottles he was getting through and decided he wanted to find an option that was plastic-free.

Following research, Neil found that close to 200 million shower gel bottles are purchased in the UK annually, with around 82 million of those not being recycled. Shocked at the numbers, Neil tried a few different plastic-free products but struggled to find one that he was happy with. They were either far too drying on the skin, or far too expensive to consider for regular usage. So, over the course of the next 9 months (the 2020 UK lockdown really accelerated things), Neil taught himself to make cosmetics from scratch and set about creating Shower Blocks.

Making the product himself allowed Neil to consider the ethics of the company with much greater flexibility. He felt it important to give back to the local community and make it a part of the business, and from launch managed to forge a partnership with Toiletries Amnesty, which aims to alleviate hygiene poverty by working with a huge range of charities around the country. For every Shower Block sold a mini Shower Block is donated, meaning the organizations in their directory including homeless shelters and hostels, foodbanks, refugees, mental health services, NHS Trusts, and hospices will be able to distribute them to the people they help.
