Natural rubber is made from fairly traded rubber resin from a tree. In this way, the production of the rubber captures carbon from the air, instead of extracting new carbon from the ground when extracting petroleum. In addition, no animal enzymes are used in the production, so the gloves are also vegan. 

Natural rubber has different properties than synthetic rubber, and these properties are even more apparent during disposal. Natural rubber is made from trees. Therefore, it is biodegradable and compostable. This means it will start to decompose when you throw it away in your compost bin. We do not recommend throwing it away in your general bin since the rubber requires an ideal environment to decompose.

The facts are different when it comes to synthetic rubber. Synthetic rubber uses manmade polymers. In fact, much of synthetic rubber is derived from petroleum. As a result, synthetic rubber is not nearly as biodegradable. It is more likely to persist in the environment after disposal.
