Condoms - 9 pack
Plant the seed that matters!
Protecting our climate has never been more pleasant. With every wrapper you open, you can pat yourself on the back for the tree planted. But don't dwell on it too long! You were about to do something else, weren't you?
The condom itself consists of natural rubber latex and is therefore biodegradable. The latex for the production of Releaf condoms comes from a small farmers' cooperative in Thailand. Instead of typical monocultures, the farmers rely on agroforestry. In addition to the rubber trees, other crops are also cultivated. This offers several advantages.
Little or no fertilizer is necessary. The biodiversity of fauna and flora is promoted. When it is dry, the soil with the different roots stores more water. If it rains too much, however, it absorbs more water.
Farmers are thus better protected against extreme weather events. Last but not least, they earn a better wage because the cooperative makes them more independent of middlemen.
Releaf condoms are manufactured under German management in Malaysia by Richter Rubber Technology. RRT has been in the market for decades and supplies dozens of brands worldwide with absolutely safe condoms. Their production is ISO-certified and state-of-the-art. The employees are paid above-average salaries and production is largely powered by solar energy.
For this sustainable and fair latex production, Releaf cooperates with several other condom brands as part of the Regenerative Rubber Initiative. More information about this can be found here.
The employees of Releaf's production partner RRT work under good conditions, are paid above average, and have been employed for over 5 years in the majority (always a good sign). The company is involved locally and supports local schools, among other things. Production is largely done with solar power. RRT are aware of their social and ecological responsibility.
The condom packet consists - as usual - of a multi-layer plastic aluminum foil. Since the different materials are firmly bonded, it is hardly possible to recycle them. From summer 2021, Releaf will switch to a more resource-saving foil without aluminum. However, this is also difficult to recycle. Unfortunately, there is currently no satisfactory fully sustainable alternative. We are continuing to tackle the issue. However, we must first grow a little more in order to be able to finance research and development in this area. In the meantime, we have at least decided to use the smallest possible sealing film (55x55mm).
Our outer packaging consists of unbleached, recycled FSC paper. This is therefore harmless.
For the overall sustainability balance we must of course consider two additional factors:
- the prevention of unwanted pregnancies and STD's
- the tree planted per condom has various positive effects on the environment
- 9 trees planted
9 natural latex condoms with reservoir
Fairly, vegan and cruelty-free produced from sustainable agroforestry latex
